Change Default Email in Self-Service
- Go to Secure Single Sign-on (https://sso.sjeccd.edu)
- Click on the Self-Service icon
- Click on your username near the top right of the screen and select User Profile from the drop-down menu

- Verify that your personal email is correct. If not, update your personal email.

- If your preferred email is not the correct one, choose the email you want as the preferred email.
Change Chosen or Preferred Name and Pronoun
In order to continue use of your preferred name, you will need to log in to Self-Service and re-enter the name you prefer to be identified by. It is important to understand that designating your Preferred Name for use at San Jose City College, Evergreen Valley College or District does NOT constitute a legal name change.
What is a Chosen Name?
A Chosen Name is a name that you can designate to be used in Canvas and on class rosters in addition to your legal name. It is a name that you wish to be known or identified by and is different from your legal name.
Chosen or Preferred name changes and pronoun preferences can be set in Self Service:
- Follow the same steps from the Change Default Email procedure above to access the User Profile screen in Self Service.
- Click on the Edit Personal Identity button.

- Enter your chosen first name, last name, and pronoun.
- Click Save.
