Global Protect VPN Instructions for Windows

The use of the GlobalProtect VPN allows staff to connect securely so data remains safe in transit between their computer and the VPN firewall. VPN client needs to be installed on a college/district owned computer.

Connect to the VPN

  1. Open the GlobalProtect VPN application.  This can be done by one of two ways:
    In the lower-left corner, type GlobalProtect in Windows Search next to the Windows icon.  It should appear at the top of the search list.

                           Type GlobalProtect in the Windows Start and Search area

Or in the system tray area (lower-right of the Desktop), click the Show Hidden Icons arrow and click the GlobalProtect icon

          Click the More arrow and click the GlobalProtect icon to start the program

2. Type your username in the format  (sjeccd\username) and (email/domain) password and then click Sign In.  The portal displays: gp.sjeccd.edu         

3. To check if Global Protect is connected open the system tray in the lower right hand corner. A check means connected.

Note: If you are unable to connect after a password change, then click on the Settings bar.

   

Click Refresh Connection.

   

Click Ok. You will need to Sign in using your network credentials.

Disconnect from the VPN

1. In the lower right hand corner, click on the system tray (up arrow icon), select GlobalProtect icon.

     Open Global Protect on Windows

2. Click Disconnect.

3. Go to the system tray area (lower-right of the Desktop), the GlobalProtect icon will display "Not Connected."

     Click the More arrow and click the GlobalProtect icon to start the program

 

4. Click the Settings bar in the upper right-hand corner and then select Settings to access the Settings dialog window. Click on Sign Out.
